re-order Project

Cross-cultural re-order

The re-order cross-cultural component was designed to complement the main re-order study and enhance the understanding of cultural perspectives in treating depression in primary care settings. To date, the research team has conducted 73 in-depth qualitative interviews with participants from the Vietnamese, East Timorese, Sudanese and Anglo Australian communities. Our study provides a rich source of qualitative data about the experience of people from these communities in living with depression. It also provides a rich source qualitative data about the experiences of GPs and allied health workers in treating depression within these communities. Together, this data highlights the points of convergence and divergence in patients’ and health workers’ understandings of depression.
